Hello ,
On behalf of the Oregon Mortgage Bankers Association Board, we’re excited about how 2025 is shaping up and have so much more in store for the rest of the year!
We kicked off the year with a strong start at the OMBA Annual Dinner, where we welcomed our 2025 board members. In February, we hosted over 60 attendees for the ODVA/OHCS Luncheon, which was packed with valuable insights and takeaways. I case you missed it access the slide decks here

OMBA recently held a well-attended Mortgage Industry for Responsible Government (MIRG) event, featuring valuable insights from our lobbyist, Matt Markee, who provided a comprehensive legislative update. We also heard from Ken Perry of Knowledge Coop, who delivered an informative overview of the latest developments from the CFPB.
Thanks to the generosity of our members, we raised $1,370 for our PAC. There’s still time to support this crucial effort that helps protect and promote our industry’s interests. Make your contribution today: Click here to donate

Upcoming Events: We’re looking forward to our Masters Watch Par-Tee on April 10th—a great opportunity to network in a fun setting. Don’t forget to check out our 2025 Events Calendar for all upcoming OMBA gatherings. View the full schedule here
Advocacy at the Core: While many of you know OMBA for our networking and educational opportunities, advocacy remains the foundation of our association. Here’s what we’ve been working on:
- 136 Bills Tracked: Our legislative committee is actively monitoring bills that could impact the mortgage industry.
- Junk Fees Legislation: Two proposed bills—one in the House and one in the Senate—could affect banking and mortgage fees. We’re engaged in discussions to protect industry interests.
- Victory for Reverse Mortgages: We successfully stopped a bill that would have restricted lending options for this critical financial product.
- Affordable Housing Push: Oregon’s governor is advocating for expanded affordable housing initiatives, including proposed changes to CC&R laws to allow duplexes and multi-unit buildings in all neighborhoods—even historic districts.
- Record-Breaking Session: With over 3,000 bills introduced—the most ever—staying engaged in advocacy has never been more important.
Stay Connected: Follow us on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook to stay up to date with advocacy efforts, industry news, and upcoming events.
Thank you for being a part of OMBA. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and continuing to make a difference in the mortgage industry together!
